Hurley's web site unfolds from the beautiful graphic you see above.
It is part of a new site design that gives you the option to choose Java
or No Java navigation. What's nice about the Java selection is the
little menu that is easily hidden so as not to interfere with what you're
viewing. It can be tucked neatly off to the side with one click to
minimize it into a tiny bar residing at the lower bottom left corner of
your screen. For those who have Java disabled on their systems, click
the No Java button and you are immediately presented with a site index.
All links from the index open in their own window, leaving the site map
conveniently accessible at all times.
These pages are filled with exquisite paintings, beautiful portraits that she describes as classical realist. Most are available for purchase. Start with the Demos. Discover what the Golden Mean is and how it relates to many aspects of our lives without our ever knowing it - yes, right down to the computer your using at this very minute. Visit the Gallery to view her paintings. Again, each click on the thumbnail painting opens another browser window to view the enlarged image. 'Fruit of The Vine' done in pastels, looks like you could pluck a grape right off your screen. I can only imagine what the picture must look like when you're actually standing in front of it. 'Full Flight' is a vivid portrait of a macaw on wing. You can almost feel the chill in the air when viewing the winter landscape in 'Wyoming'. And 'Patty Cat', done in pastels ... simply beautiful ... those great big eyes peering at you so innocently. Bernadette's artistic career has spanned 4 decades and taken her all over the world. The Sketches section is a collection of 'spontaneous impressions', as she call them, drawn over a 15 year period. View the Ponte Rialto and the Cattedrale di San Marco in Venice. Stop by Rome and Florence. Travel the countryside of Ireland and explore the castles and ruins. Drop in on the Cayman Islands. See where she calls home now. Even an artist has to resort to research, as evidenced by her humorous anecdote about the flight feathers of a mallard duck. Scattered throughout each section are hints and tips for the budding artist. Bernadette also offers instruction on a one-to-one basis. And if you're lucky enough, you may one day find her original work in your hometown as frequent tours is conducted throughout the U.S. and Europe. Visit the 'Causes' page and you will get a real understanding of why it's not always in the best interest of wildlife to return them to their natural habitat. Be sure to visit 'About The Author' where you will get to know a little bit about Ms. Hurley and also have the opportunity to view a QuickTime file detailing a ridiculous disposal method used by Oregon officials to remove a dead whale that had washed up on their shore. Sign up for Bernadette's monthly newsletter - they're always filled with interesting anecdotes about what she's been up to recently. Over the past year, the web graphics pages have grown and she now offers sets for purchase and as linkware. You will find images here like no other you've seen before. Complete sets of web graphics that even include stationery for use with Outlook Express provide you with a total package for your site. And Bernadette makes no distinction between the free sets and the ones available for purchase when it comes to design - they are each carefully crafted with the same attention to detail. This quote from Ms. Hurley
aptly describes what I'm trying to do with this site:
