RENATSSANCE ART IS NOW CLOSED |
| We'll
deviate just a bit with this site. The ones you've been viewing have
been those of artists who are currently producing work. Natale William's
pages are about different periods of art throughout history. Here,
you will get an education as well as the visual satisfaction of viewing
some of the world's greatest masterpieces. She delves into Byzantine,
Gothic (not located within the website, but a bit of prologue to help you
understand the other periods), Proto-Renaissance, Italian Renaissance,
Mannerism, Northern Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism, Neo-Classicism,
pre-Raphaelite, Realism, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism. With
links to art museums and other resources on the internet, virtually anything
you want to find information on regarding art can be reached from her site.
A resident of Santa Clara, California, Natale started her site as a result of her studies in Art History. While preparing papers and studying for exams, she used the internet to locate artists relevant to her subject. She found that most of the places she visited were bare bones minimum with either just pictures or very limited text. Through her frustration, ReNATssance Art was born in an effort to combine both the artists' works along with a wealth of information. Her pages have become an amazing resource. Start with Art 101 to get an overview of the mechanisms used by painters to create masterpieces. It's divided into 2 sections: Periods & Movements and Basic Art Definitions. Natale suggests that if you don't know much about art, you pay close attention to this page first as it will help you to understand what the rest of her site is about. The Timeline of History, I found particularly interesting. It's split into 2 time periods - 1300 through to 1599 and 1600 through to 1799, with the 1900's soon to be presented. Do you know how much New York was sold for and when? Art Facts and Art Media (both on the same page) gives you the technical perspective with definitions that can only add to your enjoyment of the artwork. And there is a recently started section dealing exclusively with American artists. The Art History Notes were built with the art history student in mind. Still in the development stages with text having been completed for half of the periods, it will be an invaluable aid to anyone studying art when fully completed. There is an index listing all the artists whose works appear on the site, making it exceedingly easy to navigate by either the artist's name or period. Delve into the past by clicking on the painting at the top of this page. <== BACK |
