| David
Brady is a multimedia and collage artist. The strictest definition
of mixed-media work is that it combines techniques and materials from two
or more graphic or fine art processes, no one of which clearly predominates.
David's work takes it one step further with the addition of other components,
which in pure art terms, defines his creations as collages.
A California resident, Mr.
Brady is best know for his exploration of the human subject. He works
with oil, pen and ink, photography, collage, and “found objects’ - those
objects often being what others might term “garbage”. With his move
into digital media, his creations have been utilized on such films as The
Mask of Zorro, Cruel Intentions, Muppets From Space, Madeline, and The
Count of Monte Cristo. Mr. Brady is the recipient of several awards
for his creative direction and design on some very high-profile web sites,
with some of his projects having been featured at the Museum of Contemporary
Art in Los Angeles. He has been selected as one of the contributing
master artists in a workshop for L.A. high schools, introducing students
to a variety of art techniques. He lectures throughout the local
school system and provides special studio sessions for young artists.
In the fall of 1998, Mr.
Brady spent 9 weeks as the Artist in Residence in Kawaguchi, Japan.
A self-taught artist, he counts Francis Bacon, Robert Rauschenberg, Picasso,
Miles Davis, and David Hockney as being influential in his craft.
He is featured in several one-man exhibitions and today, his works are
held in numerous private and corporate collections internationally.
David Brady is one of the artists chosen to promote the 2008 Olympics in
Japan.
Viewing his work, you will
definitely be left with questions. Why did he place a particular
object in a picture? What emotion was he trying to solicit?
You can't help but be drawn into many of the one-of-a-kind paintings found
within the on-line exhibition in the Galleries section. He notes
that “many of the paintings are 3-dimensional with the image coming off
of the surface as much as 12 inches”, something that is difficult to truly
capture on the flat screen of your monitor. Direct from his site,
you have the opportunity to purchase T-shirts, posters, and limited edition
prints of his unusual creations. Learn more about the artist by reading
the interviews conducted by many of the people whose lives he's touched
by his work.
