What's new? More computer
problems ... new video card - ATI Xpert 2000 32 MB, also increased RAM
to 128 MB. And all hell broke loose. No more white, just pale
blue. Grey became a grey with a slight green tinge to it. How
in the world do you do graphic work when your colors no longer appear like
they're supposed to appear? I almost went blind trying to get the
darn thing corrected. Being a novice at all this stuff, I wasn't
sure if it was the new card or if somehow my monitor had taken on a life
of its own. Pincushion, pin balance, trapezoid, parallel, and then
of course, that whole 'color temperature' thing. And just try to
get some useful information from the web site of your video card or monitor
manufacturer. Sure, they have all the real detailed technical stuff.
But do any of them actually tell a beginner how to just set the things
up? No, of course not. I guess they figure that if you can
find your way to their web site, you must know what you're doing.
Wrong, wrong, wrong ... |

That's the problem with
upgrading your computer ... now I've got a new sound card and I can take
advantage of all the stuff out there. But how many of my visitors
can? Those MP3 files sure sound a lot better than midis - a thousand
times better. |

Okay ... I'm seriously confused.
As usual, instead of changing just one thing on the computer, I've done
a couple. And now I don't know which one is causing this latest turn
of events. New sound card, but also installed Internet Explorer 5.5.
Now, when I visit a site with midi files, I have to manually turn up the
volume or I don't hear the music. Is it the new sound card?
Or is it the new browser? Someday I will learn ... one thing at a
time !!! |

For the past several months,
the majority of the reviews have been centered on artists using the Bryce
program. I haven't yet purchased it (but have been hinting strongly
to the family that Christmas is coming up) so I'm still using just Paint
Shop Pro 6. And continually discovering new things about it, too.
Last March, Helen Grainge, from Just Mousing Around, left a note in the
guest book. I recently returned to her site, remembering that she
had some tutorials posted for PSP. And got completely caught up in
the unusual array of images. |

It's been quite some time
since I applied for a web site award, but last weekend I came across one
that caught my attention. Visulogic has a panel of judges from all
over the world who jointly determine if your web site meets their discerning
eye. Thursday morning, I received the Bronze Award in my email.
The VISULOGIC
AWARD is one of the most prestigious awards
offered today and I consider it a true honour to proudly to display it
on my page. |

After several months of
intense time constraints, I have finally been able to get back to my own
web site. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who
has contacted me over the past little while, concerned about the fact that
I was 'missing in action'. It seems that once again, I took on way
more than I should have, leaving little time for even sleep.
The MARCH
FEATURED SITE is D Filipino Connection, created
by Ancel Manalili. These elegant pages are a true example of polished
refinement. A GIFT
from this corner of the web is now one my treasures. |

At the end of January, I
took over the awards program for The Computer Friends Web Ring. The
award was developed to recognize the efforts of members of the ring and
as such, is not based solely on the design of a site or its appeal to one
person. Three sites are nominated each month by other web ring members,
and the winner is selected by the votes cast by members only. The
founder of the ring, Twilight, and her partner Jeff, sent this DELIGHTFUL
LITTLE GRAPHIC as a 'thank you' for my participation.
The better part of February
was spent moving and re-structuring the Guns 4 Hire site. They have
finally registered their own domain and the site is being hosted out of
California on Affinity Hosting. Certainly is a whole new set of issues
when you pay for your space. There are so many options open to you
that are just not available with any of the free services.
I've been doing much more
print work than I had ever intended to do - a substantial increase in signage
for CIBC and last month, two CD's covers for re-releases of albums went
to print, with a third one in development as I write. I handed off
the dental site I developed last year to the dentist himself and spent
some time teaching Dr. Greg James the basics of HTML so that he could administer
the site on his own from now on. Fortunately, he's a quick learner
as he had no previous experience with page construction. And last
but not least, scouting around for sites for the Featured Sites section.
Seems to be getting more difficult locating pages that are both distinctive
and artistic. Everyone appears to using the same web site developers
