I've been having some rather
nasty problems with my computer due to a careless mistake on my part, and
while I managed to get everything pretty much back to normal, I was left
with one minor inconvenience -- JPEG images would no longer appear in the
preview pane in my folders. As I have done so often in the past,
I turned to ZDNet and one of their forums, titled Computer Help.
This last weekend was different ... I got the answers I so desperately
needed, but in the process, made a new acquaintance by the name of Donna.
I will be forever grateful to her for helping me muddle through my problem.
I'm not quite sure where she finds the time to help all those people at
the forum because she is also a licensed insurance agent in Pennsylvania
and still manages to squeeze in the maintenance on her own web site, DONNA'S
PAGE AT HOME, on top of it all. Another
lady who provided assistance to me is Debbie DeHaven, and her site is called
BACKGROUNDS
AND MORE. Debbie has stationery that
you can use for your e-mail, if you use Outlook for your mail program.
Sure brightens up what can become such a mundane task. Be sure to
check out her Christmas selection.
I had a bit of an 'encounter'
with someone who just could not, or chose not to, understand the whole
issue of copyright protection. It caused me to consider the possibility
that there may be a lot of people thinking the same way and I've created
a new page dealing with the topic. As technology becomes more sophisticated
every day, the ability to copy someone else's work is becoming effortless.
I even read an article by one supposedly reputable organization which went
so far as to detail how to copy someone else's whole page design with only
a couple of clicks of the mouse. They followed the article, the next
day, with a weak warning to use caution because someone doing that MAY
be treading on thin ice regarding copyrights. I don't think that
there is any 'treading on thin ice' here ... someone doing that is blatantly
stealing the hard work of someone else. Please check out my COPYRIGHT
& THE LAW page. |

The Christmas button set,
Santa's Helper, was created using tubes from GLORIANON.
Her only requirement to using the images she has created is to e-mail her
so that she can see how the tubes are being used - just curiosity, like
any artist and wanting to see how her graphics have inspired others to
design. Glori viewed the little buttons and responded with an invitation
for me to join a new forum ... GRAPHIC
BUDS. If you're interested in making
your own graphics, consider joining this group. They have something
to offer for everyone from the beginner on up to the experienced designer.
With so many rings and links and forums out there, I guess I should start
a page dealing with specifically that but I can't quite decided on what
to call it ... maybe next week. Right now I'm working on November's
site of the month - will be up by the 30th.
I've been a member of The
Phenomenal Women of the Web since June 1999. As a member, I
receive email updates every once in a while. The one that arrived Thursday
was the just another update ... or so I thought. You can't begin
to imagine my surprise when I found the GOLDEN
EXCELLENCE AWARD attached to it.
And I received another 'treasure' Friday night - the I
SURVIVED THE BATZ BELFRY reward. I was
viewing the pages of a couple of the past featured sites, and Fantasy Realm
is now a part of the Batz Belfry. |

When I put my first page
on-line, 5 megabytes of web space seemed like a huge amount. I didn't
think I'd ever fill it up. But I have, and I've now had to activate
another account with my ISP. I've moved the tube paintings to that
area and have added a new one, WINTER
WALK. I met another terrific lady at
ZDNet who has just begun to build a web site - Tania Riffey - and she sent
me a beautiful little treat in my mailbox last week.
Better late than never ...
I just completed the Batz Belfry Halloween hunt. I know, I should
be getting ready for Christmas, but this one was just too good to pass
up. Received TWO
NEW TREASURES from the Belfry. |

Now that the holidays are
over, the GUNS
4 HIRE CHRISTMAS 1999 WEB PAGE has been archived
to this site. I received a NEW
AWARD from the International Association of
Web Masters & Designers at the beginning of December.
The primary focus of these
pages is to lead you to art on the web. Never, in my wildest dreams
at the inception of this site, did I imagine that the artist would one
day be the computer itself, instead of a human being. But that's
exactly what you'll see when you visit the Featured Sites for NOVEMBER
and DECEMBER
- the computer as the artist. Because this was a fairly complex concept
to absorb, I chose to save both sites and present them together at the
same time, hopefully with an explanation that is easy to comprehend. |
