In February 1999 I saved
the picture on my main page from a beautiful site called Dragons and Dreams.
On April 3, 1999, after working with this image, I tried to locate
the original artist's name, but the site was no longer in existence due
to a lack of funding. Because of the size of their site (over 500
MB), they were unable to take advantage of free web hosting. And
in my naivety, I didn't record the artist's name, assuming that I would
be able to go back any time and get it. A lesson well learned.
After 5 months of searching for his or her name, I have finally found it
and the artist's site. The painting was created by Jonathon Earl
Bowser and his site is the FEATURED
SITE FOR THE MONTH OF JULY. |

I started this place to
guide my friends and acquaintances to sites of beauty because they just
don't have the time to go searching. Nor do I, really, but sometimes you
just have to make the time. Well, I'm getting an education in art
along with my quest to find such pages. Natale Williams sent me an
e-mail a couple of weeks ago, thanking me for doing this site, when in
fact, it should be me who is thanking her. She had her URL on the
e-mail and of course, I went for a visit right away. Art, and Art
History, is all here, in the FEATURED
SITE FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST. |

Bernadette Hurley wandered
through these pages a little while ago and was kind enough to leave an
entry in the guest book. Your time will be well spent when visiting
her pages and her site is the FEATURED
SITE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER.
I've added a recent photograph
to The Author page. I'm gradually becoming a little more comfortable
with this medium. |

Have you been to Silver's
Place yet? Her site is filled with original artwork and she now offers
what she calls 'walk throughs', detailing how her pictures are created
-an invaluable aid for us beginners. She just put up a new walk through,
Lure of the Gwyllion. The previous one was for her painting, Death's
Embrace and she offered a one-of-a-kind reward for the person who could
discover what was eerie about the walk through itself. I don't even
want to tell you how long I spent studying her images before I finally
came up with the correct answer, but it was all worth it. See the
beautiful GRAPHIC
I received from Silver. |

The better part of the last
week was spent at a place called FORTRESS
WEB DESIGN AND HOSTING going through their
tutorials. If you want to learn some secrets to creating web pages,
this is a good place to start. They cover everything from the very basic
elements right on up to designing for business sites. An absolute
must for us beginners. |

While I have made every
effort to bring you a new site each month, I'm late with posting the October
one for a couple of reasons. Most of the past two months has been
spent working on the Guns 4 Hire site and with that out of the way, I can
begin to concentrate on this place once again. I've been working
with Real Audio files, Java applets, and Java scripting for the band's
pages and will eventually incorporate some of the same methods into this
site, along with instructions on how to achieve those effects for your
pages. The second reason is that I've spent quite a bit of time looking
for a new site to bring to you. I don't know if I'm becoming overly
critical, or what the problem is, but this time around, I had a difficult
time selecting a site to preview. Some places had some really pretty
artwork, but the design of the site itself made it almost impossible to
locate what you were looking for. Or it used frames in such a manner
that prevented you from viewing the images without a LOT of scrolling sideways
and up and down. Or, the javascript on the site just plain didn't
work. Frustrating ... But I finally found one that will have made
the wait well worthwhile - Novel Art is the FEATURED
SITE FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. |
