The original idea behind this place was to help you find sites with quality artwork and good page design - ones that didn't rely heavily on advertising and sites that were easy to navigate.  Nothing is more irritating that trying to find something on a site and having to wade through difficult menus to locate what you're searching for.  And now I seem to find myself in that position with this place.  With the addition of my own works, updates are at irregular intervals and it has been necessary for you to go through pages you've already viewed to get to the new pieces.  As areas are updated, I will create the link to the new selection here so that you don't have to go through pages you've already visited. There are two main sections - Featured Sites and Originals, with the Originals branching off to Tube Paintings, Button Sets, and miscellaneous graphics that I'm experimenting with.

With that done and out of the way, I finally have a new site for you to visit - GUDRUN WEERASINGHE'S GALLERY.

I was accepted into  The Phenomenal Women of the Web, an amazing organization.  (You'll see the seal on pages throughout this site.)  Founded by Nancy Imelda Schafer (also known as Spyder) PWOTW is a division of the personal side of Spyder's Empire. There is so much to see and absorb on her site that I won't waste your time here trying to describe it.  Just go, explore, and use your bookmarks or favorites feature because this is not a place to visit just once.  (But don't forget to come back when you're finished!)

One of the benefits of belonging to PWOTW is a beautiful guest book created by Nancy.  It went on-line Thursday, June 16 and I would love to hear from you.  Please take the time to sign.

I received three awards and would like to thank the ladies who took the time to wander through my pages.  The site owners all have different themes - Ellen Stafford's is a very personal site while Melanie Ducote's provides graphics, Beanie Babies, games, trivia contests, and an amazing number of links.  Ellie's site, CATS AND PINK CADILLACS, is dedicated to her 'kids' - Littlefoot, KeeKee, and Bambi - and her classic Cadillac.  You absolutely have to read their stories - they're told from the cats' perspectives.  But more importantly, this lady's message is about the prevention of animal abuse. And Ellie built her whole site without a computer.  She uses WebTV. ( I've got to learn more about that )  You can reach all three sites from my Awards Page by clicking on the individual awards.  Maybe one day, I'll be knowledgeable enough in this medium to start an award of my own.  I can only hope ...

Button set - ELLIE'S LITTLEFOOT.  Inspired by a furry little pet I 'met' last weekend at Cats and Pink Cadillacs.  How can you not fall in love with this adorable little face?  Photo used with permission.

I received a new award  - from LOADSTAR'S LAIR.  Her site is exquisite with beautiful photographs and paintings of tigers, and a vast amount of information on these animals.  Loadstar's award is very difficult to obtain and I am thrilled that, so early in my page building days, she has seen fit to bestow upon me the MERIT AWARD, along with an invitation to apply for the Gold Award as I gain more experience.

I'm presently working on the re-design of a business site here in Winnipeg and required assistance working with Real Audio files.  I turned to Darryl Kerney, a sound technician, who's extremely knowledgeable regarding audio programs, but has no experience with building web pages.  Undaunted by the prospect, he spent the better part of last week searching for information to assist me.  The biggest challenge with re-designing someone else's site appears to be having to cope with their often unwieldy corporate images.  But back to Darryl -  I gave him the basic code for embedding music onto a page so that he would have something to work with while testing the Real Audio files.  Seems he's now gotten the 'web site' bug too, and has managed to get his own site started.  I think this would be an ideal place to visit, for all of you who think it would just be too difficult to create your own pages.  You can see the process right from the very beginning and realize that it's not as intimidating as you might imagine.  Bear in mind, this is his first page, and he's put it together while working a full-time job AND looking for information for me.  Darryl's Home Page (And those midi, wav and real audio files  were created by him, not borrowed from somewhere.)

Have just learned about JavaScript - think it's hard?  Not on your life!  Remember - I've only been at this for a couple of months now.  Here's the code and an example of how to do those 'mouse over' things.  That's when you move your mouse over an image or text and it changes.  Now where am I going to put all of those?  Start a JavaScript section?
