Yet somewhere along the way, the opinions of others started to matter.   And I discovered that I really did want to be recognized for the time I put into this.  I have tried to be selective in the sites to which I submitted applications as it is the quality of the award that matters most to me, not the quantity.

2001 is the last year in which I actively submitted applications, due primarily to time constraints.  For a while there, it seemed like the awards programs got kind of a bad reputation.  It seemed as though some of the sites offering awards were doing so mainly in an effort to get the recipients to link back to their site in order to increase their rank in the search engines.  Some articles suggested that you received an award without your site even undergoing any judging whatsoever.  I don't believe that was the case with any of the honours displayed in the following pages.  While some of sites are no longer on line, that doesn't diminish their merit.
